2nd October 2009
New match format, at the moment all you have to do is catch a fish in a time zone and submit it but from Sunday you will have to catch a specific species in each time zone in order to submit it.

If you look at the current mach page the top part has sectors and species added if the new system was in place then it would look like this....

Match time Venue Sectors and species
27-Sep-2009 00:00 GMT

to

3-Oct-2009 23:59 GMT
Shoreline (all pegs)

( Tagged fish : Ballan Wrasse 0 lb, 9 oz, 5 dr )
00:00 - 03:59 Bullhuss
04:00 - 07:59 Tope
08:00 - 11:59 Bullhuss
12:00 - 15:59 Plaice
16:00 - 19:59 Dogfish
20:00 - 23:59 Cod

You will notice that in the midnight to 4am zone you have to catch a Bullhuss but in the 4am to 8am zone you have to catch a Tope. you may have also noticed that 2 of the time zones have the target fish as Bullhuss this s because the target fish are chosen randomly by the system (not me )

At the moment all points awarded are based on the position you are in the weekly table (1st place gets 100 points 2nd place gets 99 plus any bonus points you get i.e. tagged fish or biggest fish in section) in future your points will be awarded based on your biggest fish in each section (i.e. biggest fish in 8pm to midnight section would get 20 points 2nd 19 points down to 20th place getting 1 point plus any bonus points you get i.e. tagged fish or biggest fish in section) this would be the same for each time zone.

The reason this will be better is say one of the zones you have to catch a carp but all the other zones you have to catch say minnows if it was based on overall weight then one carp would always beat 5 minnows but under new system even if you get the biggest carp it would still only be worth 20 points the same as the biggest minnow in one of the other sections.

1st October 2009 This Saturday sees the end of the current season and the league will be reset.

Some may have already noticed minor changes to the current league page these have been done in order to accommodate a few minor changes for the new season which will start at midnight (GMT) and changes are as follows.

Each time zone will have its own target species, in other words only the species specified will be accepted in each time zone.

Each time zone has its own points awarded (first place gets 20 points second place 19 points down to 1 point)

Sounds confusing but think it will be a lot better than the current points system.

Please Note the current league will finish at 9pm (GMT) on Saturday in order that things can be reset for the new season which will start at midnight GMT on Saturday

Thanks for your continued support and thanks to Jase for time spent on the changes requested.

13th July 2009

Thanks for the positive remarks regarding thoughts on improving the new match format.

Following on from the idea floated and the comments from Darren and Jase I have decided to give this idea a try but won't be for a couple of weeks yet due to holidays etc.

The idea is that each time zone has its own points system and target species to catch therefore it may be that a roach if thats the target species for a particular zone may be worth as many points as say a carp in another time zone, also some may be able to catch large carp but not decent roach.

This should hopefully force people not to just go for the biggest species available in the venue as is now.

Will keep you all up to date when I have more information.

16th May 2009

New match system based on Trophy Challenge on fishsim.net implemented

16th. December 2005 Andy T sadly passed away yesterday.

When I took over the Pro side of Fishsim things were very tough trying to find time to keep it going then stepped in Andy and things grew from strenth to strenth a true sign of Andy's dedication to something he loved very dearly.

It is fitting that last weeks match had the highest number of entries since starting..... Andy would have been well chuffed had he of known.

The loss of a very dear friend is never easy to accept and our thought's are with Andy's family at this time.

I will always remember the magical moments and gems that Andy always managed to come out with when we fished together.

Goodbye to a true friend, you will be sadly missed and thank you for all the help and support over the years.
